Hey,
Welcome to Beauclerk Photographys first Blog post.
Beauclerk Photography is the passion project and love child of mine, Benjamin Beauclerk Corke, I am an Electrician by trade but I AM going to become a photographer. Currently situated in a small town in Suffolk. Within this town happens to be THAT 'Castle On The Hill', Its a loverly town and I consider myself lucky to have grown up there in the relative peace and quiet that it provided, But as I advance in years I am coming to realise that for me there should be a lot more to life than just working and surviving. more on that in a later post.

My first camera was a leaving present from my parents. They gave me a point and shoot Olympus camera because I was embarking on a trip around the world. I had never really shown an interest in photography and cameras. I had a phone that could take photos, what more would I need? I told Mum and Dad not to bother as I wouldn't take it any where with me and it would just sit in the bottom of my backpack locked away in a dingy hostel locker somewhere, but they insisted and I succumbed. Thank god they were so insistent! That little Olympus camera hardly ever left my hands. My girlfriend at the time, who I am happy to say is now my wife, doesn't like having her photo taken so It meant that I spent a lot time taking photos of the world around me and not just drunken people doing stupid things. Obviously the photos taken on that little point and shoot will probably never see the light of day because In the early days I didn't know any thing about composition, subject or lighting, but I still loved every minute spent looking through the view finder.
My biggest regret is not having learnt the art of photography before leaving. The beginning of our trip was spent travelling over land from Mexico City to Santiago in Chile. This 6 month journey was the start of my second real passion traveling. The countries in between are so diverse and different that the few blurry and over exposed photos that I have really don't do justice to the beauty these countries have. From the brightly coloured and religiously decorated American school busses that now serve as public busses to small villages all over Central America, to the mountain Vistas found around almost every corner in South America. My very first piece of advice, which I am sure there will be many as time rolls on and the blog pages mount up, is to visit these countries, yes of corse there is trouble and yes you can have problems. but that can happen anywhere in the world. The only issues we ever had while traveling were directly linked to other travellers.

The Main Purpose of this blog isn't to convince you to travel the world, although that is, in my opinion a very good way to spent time and money. It is to help keep a record of my transition from an Electrician ( the most Noble and respected of all the trades) to a professional photographer. I am sure there will be up and downs, trials and tribulations. and all the other old adages, but its a challenge and I don't believe for one second it will be easy, but as on September 12, 1962, President John F Kennedy Said “We choose to go to the moon. We choose to go to the moon in this decade and do the other things (accomplishments and aspirations), not because they are easy, but because they are hard, because that goal will serve to organize and measure the best of our energies and skills, because that challenge is one that we are willing to accept, one we are unwilling to postpone, and one which we intend to win.” granted I am not aiming to go to the moon but the life of a professional photographer compared to life of an electrician is, I am sure, other worldly
